Like a rolling stone. Her name is ISHI, means "stone" in Japanese language. My grandmother. Born Meiji 43(1910)/12/26, and died Heisei 8(1996)/01/20. She loved to watch KABUKI in television, loved to play Shamisen. She learned Shamisen in her young days. But her life was very hard one. Lost her goods in fatality of fire, big earthquake in Tokyo (named Kantou Daisinsai), and the air raid of Tokyo in World War 2. No women's lib. She born in Matsumoto, Nagano prefecture. She came Tokyo, Fukagawa. Opend small restaurant in this place, but air raid broke her small peace. She came back to Nagano for evacuation. Hard days continued. There was no foods, so she went to another man's field in the night and stole some vegetable. My father don't remember, but ISHI sometimes said to me, "I still remember. I hold my son, stood in the street, and said to people.

I'm hungry. My son hungry too. Please, gentleman, we want something to eat.

In my memory, my grandmother was little strange woman. Very hard to please, always loved loneliness (She never felt loneliness). 1
